On May 12, the SCGI, together with the British Embassy Stockholm, arranged the seminar ‘A Stronger Equity Market – Learnings from the UK’. During the seminar, Nicola Watkinson, Managing Director at TheCityUK presented recent UK initiatives to promote equity market growth and innovation. SCGI director Erik Lidman presented the OECD – OCDE/SCGI report ‘The Swedish Equity Market: Assessment and Policy recommendations’, and lessons from the comparative capital market regulation research carried out at the SCGI. A panel discussion followed with Pär Holmbäck, Political Adviser at the Ministry of Finance, Jimmy Kvarnström, Head of Markets, Finansinspektionen, Johan Nyquist, Senior Banker, SEB, Johan Mattsson, General Counsel Europe, Nasdaq, Chris McGahan – Western Europe & Nordic Primary Market, London Stock Exchange, and Stacey Parsons – Managing Director, RetailBook, moderated by SCGI Fellow Andreas Gustafsson.The seminar is the second in a series of SCGI-events aiming to facilitating closer exchange between British and Swedish researchers, practitioners, and policymakers concerning equity market policy development.
